The intermediate Chinese language training program for international faculty opened on the afternoon of Oct. 13 at the International College, Zijingang Campus. The session brought together international faculty from seven countries and was jointly organized by the Human Resources Department, the School Union, and the International College.

Sun Peijian, Specially Appointed Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department, attended the first session, extended a warm welcome to the participating faculty, and announced the opening of the program. In his opening remarks, Sun emphasized that the Human Resources Department is working with various support units and departments to further improve the service and development support system for international faculty. Current initiatives include the “Guiding Horizon” International Faculty Salon Series, Chinese language training, cultural experience programs, and other activities. He noted that these programs are carefully designed based on the daily needs and workplace challenges of international faculty. He wished all participants a rewarding learning experience and continued success in their professional careers.

The class was taught by Xu Qi, a senior Chinese language instructor at the International College of Zhejiang University. Xu has eight years of teaching experience, including four years of overseas teaching in the United Kingdom and Bulgaria. The course focuses on intermediate Chinese for daily communication. By introducing new vocabulary and explanations, Xu guided the international faculty through interactive discussions on selected topics.

Taking the initiative, the Human Resources Department, the Union, and the International College have been organizing both elementary and intermediate Chinese language training courses for international faculty. Going forward, the Human Resources Department will continue to provide such support services to help international faculty better integrate into campus life and enhance their sense of belonging and well-being.
