Zhejiang University Successfully Holds 2026 New Year Gathering for International Faculty

On the afternoon of December 30, 2025, the 2026 International Faculty New Year Gathering was successfully held in Room 227 of the East Sixth Teaching Building at Zijingang Campus. More than 60 international faculty members and their families from 24 colleges representing 18 countries and regions participated in the celebration. The event was attended by Zhan Qiwei, Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department.

 

The event featured meticulously planned activities designed to offer participants an authentic experience of Chinese culture. These included experiencing calligraphy of the Chinese character “Fu” (福, a symbol of good fortune), painting on circular fans, and stenciling. Attendees enthusiastically participated in these hands-on activities, immersing themselves in the charm of traditional Chinese culture. The atmosphere was vibrant and festive, reflecting the joy of the occasion.

 

In addition to the cultural experiences, the event featured New Year gifts and heartfelt wishes from the organizers, presented through a lively lucky draw session that left attendees with unforgettable memories. The lucky draw brought moments of joy and surprise, conducted through random selections, fostered interaction and camaraderie among participants, enriching the event with fun and friendship.

 

The gathering concluded with a group photo, leaving attendees with cherished memories of an unforgettable event and a remarkable day. International faculty members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the organizers and Zhejiang University representatives for hosting such a meaningful event, describing it as both extraordinary and memorable. They also conveyed their hopes for more opportunities like this in the future to enhance exchange and collaboration, contributing together to the university's ongoing internationalization efforts.

This gathering was organized by Human Resources Department in collaboration with the School of International Studies, the Office of Global Engagement, and the Union, aimed to ring in the new year while fostering a platform for connection, promoting an inclusive and international university environment.
