Introduction to ZJU Postdocs – briefly introduce

Postdoctoral Recruitment Requirements

ü Applicants must: hold a PhD degree graduated within the past three years, demonstrate academic integrity, and maintain good physical/mental health.

1) Under 35 years of age (exceptions considered case-by-case).

2) Meet discipline-specific academic criteria.

3) Commit to full-time research during their contract.

4) Fulfill additional requirements set by the ZJU Postdoctoral Office.

Recruitment Procedures for postdocs

1) Submit: CV, two recommendation letters, and proof of academic achievements (to cooperating professor and college/department).

2) The cooperating professor reviews materials and completes the ZJU Postdoctoral Recruitment Application Form.

3) College/department conducts interviews and preliminary approval.

4) Register on www.chinapostdoctor.org.cn and submit required materials.

5) Provincial postdoctoral office reviews application.

6) Complete ZJU HR system registration (domestic applicants) or apply for a work permit (international applicants).

Postdoctoral Researchers: Report at the Postdoctoral Work Office. Post-onboarding steps: Obtain staff ID, campus card, email, housing, and parking permits via designated service windows (East 3rd Teaching Building, Zijingang Campus).

Midterm Assessment - Researchers who fail to complete the midterm assessment within three months may be withdraw from the center, as advised by the recruiting unit.

Extensions - A maximum of 2 extensions are allowed per term, with each term not exceeding 4 years.

Withdrawal Policies

1) Fail to submit certificates of doctoral degrees or education certificates, or academic degree authentication within six months after admission;

2) Admission into the center by providing false materials;

3) Fail to pass midterm evaluation;

4) Due to misconduct of academic ethics or fraud with severe impact;

5) Being sentenced for a criminal punishment;

6) Absence from work for more than 15 consecutive working days;

7) Violation of labor discipline provisions that conform to the circumstances of rescission of the employment contract;

8) Unable to complete the research work due to illness or other reasons;

9) Fail to return for more than 30 days after going abroad;

10)  Fail to complete postdoctoral program formalities without justified reasons when the contract expires or staying in the center for more than 6 years;

11)  Other circumstances where the postdoctoral researchers must withdraw from the station.

Final evaluation and leave station policy - Submit research report and achievements 1 month before contract expiry. A defense appraisal meeting of a 5-plus member panel can be arranged by the research unit.

ü Submit China Postdoctoral Science Foundation reports (if applicable).

ü Submit departure forms and settle financial obligations.

Post-Completion Employment - International researchers seeking employment in China must reapply for work and residence permits.
