Faculty Ethics and Conduct 

ZJU positions its faculty and staff as pivotal to its vision of becoming a world-class institution with Chinese characteristics. ZJU teachers are expected to embody high moral standards and academic excellence, fostering students’ holistic development. Professional ethics serve as the primary criterion in evaluations, influencing appointments, promotions, awards, and disciplinary actions.

Rights & Responsibilities: Faculty enjoy rights to fair resource access, professional growth, and participation in governance. Responsibilities include upholding academic integrity, protecting the university’s reputation, and advancing student well-being.


Ethical Misconduct:

The following behaviors are prohibited:

Political: Undermining national authority, unauthorized religious activities.

Student Engagement: Exploitation, harassment, or unfair academic practices.

Academic: Plagiarism, data falsification, ghostwriting.

Other: Damaging public interests, spreading false information, or resource misuse.

Ethics Assessment:

Annual evaluations rate ethics as Excellent, Qualified, Satisfactory, or Unqualified. Poor ratings impact performance reviews and career advancement, ensuring ethics remain central to faculty accountability.
